Lost trust in postal service

Last year ended for me in a most shocking way. It was supposedly the season for receiving and giving but sadly that was destroyed by Pos Malaysia.

The episode started off with my friend in the US asking me what I wanted for Christmas. He asked how he should send the gifts so that they would reach me safe and sound.

I suggested two methods: commercial courier and ordinary post. The first was unreasonably expensive and could even end up more costly than the gifts. So the choice was by ordinary parcel post.

He asked about the efficiency of the postal service in Malaysia. I assured him that since Pos Malaysia had been privatised and being a public listed concern it is seen as being as competitive as any commercial courier company. I discovered how wrong I was when the parcel arrived.

The most commercially valuable item believe it or not was missing. It was a brand new limited edition Nintendo DS! Yes, everything was there except for this much sought after item.

The parcel’s tape was tampered with. Despite being listed on the content sheet the gift was nowhere in the parcel box. Can you imagine the horror and sadness? And with it my trust for Pos Malaysia too.

I will never recommend this form of delivery to any of my friends. Neither will I use Pos Malaysia’s parcel service.
