NGOs lodge report against Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 24, 2008) : The Gombak Action Front, which represents several non-governmantal organisations (NGOs) from the district, today lodged a police report against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly jeopardising national security.
The report was lodged by its secretary-general Mohd Mustafa Latiff at the Batu 6 Police Station, Gombak today. The front represents several bodies such as the Gombak District Youth Council, Rukun Tetangga Gombak Setia, and the Gombak Branch of the Persatuan Silatcekak Malaysia.
Mohd Mustafa said the report was lodged to urge the police to investigate Anwar who is alleged to have created negative public perception against the government leadership.
"He (Anwar) should be investigated under the Sedition Act and Internal Security Act (ISA) for his statements which have caused uneasiness among the people particularly concerning the government takeover," he told reporters.
In SEREMBAN, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said if Anwar truly had the list of names of Members of Parliament who were defecting, he should have met the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to form the government.
Anwar's ploy could be easily seen by those who truly understood the law, he said.
Mohamad said if the list was shown to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, he would investigate the matter to enable the change of government. - Bernama
