This collaboration will see SEGi providing certification for primary and secondary school pupils who pass the Dynabook Grade Exam, an ICT skills test run by Eduspec, the parent company of Dynabook group of companies.

"Not long ago, for a student to possess basic computer skills was considered a significant asset; however, it is a necessity now," said SEGi vice-chancellor Prof Dr Muhamad Awang.

Eduspec group CEO Lim Een Hong said the collaboration with SEGi will improve and elevate the level of Information and communications technology competencies among the students.

The Dynabook Grade Exam assesses the computer literacy and software application knowledge of students on a stage-by-stage basis according to the students’ standard of study.

The Dynabook computer education system is divided into four major parts that include computer general knowledge, computer education, computer-aided instruction software and smart e-classroom.

This national-level assessment system has participants from all over the country, as some 250 schools nationwide have included the Dynabook programme in their curriculum.

So far a total of 301,721 students have taken the Dynabook exam which began in 1989.
