TWO
hundred copies of a book comprising a collection of excerpts from judgments handed down by retired Court of Appeal judge Datuk Vincent Ng Kim Khoay, are being sold by the Rotary Club of Pudu at RM1,000 each – for a charitable cause.

The proceeds of the book, Footprints of a Judge’s Journey Through Mother Earth, will go to the “Justice Datuk Vincent Ng Scholarship Fund” set up by the club to help needy secondary school pupils and undergraduates.

The book, co-authored by Alex Chang Huey Wah, Khoo Guan Huat and Lim Hui Ling, was recently launched by Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Ariffin Zakaria in Kuala Lumpur.

Ariffin, who paid tribute to Ng and described him as “an honest judge who upheld the integrity of the law,” said many of Ng’s judgements will be cited and used as reference.

The book also highlights Ng’s life as a family man and his talent with musical instruments.

Ng, who was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas before he retired last April, is currently undergoing medical treatment.

At the launch of the book, RM100,000 from the sale of the first 100 books, which were snapped up by the legal fraternity, was handed over to the club.

Chang, who is also the project chairman, said the 200 books were donated to the club for the purpose of raising funds by The Malaysian Current Law Journal Sdn Bhd which published the book.

He said those who purchase the book for charity at RM1,000 will receive a tax-exemption receipt from the club.

The book will be sold commercially for RM100 each through major bookstores later.
