Soi Lek's men to call own EGM if draft resolutions unagreeable

Tan Chai Ho

KUALA LUMPUR (Spet 13, 2009) :
THE MCA central delegates EGM action committee is prepared to call an extraordinary general meeting on its own if supporters of party president and the sacked deputy cannot agree on the EGM resolutions, China Press reported today.

Sources from sacked deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek's camp said if party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat's leadership insists on holding just one EGM, it has to accept the resolutions requisitioned by the action committee.

"The resolutions submitted (to the secretary-general) cannot be amended. If they (Ong's team) do not accept them, we will send out notices for the EGM five days from last Friday (the day the delegates' requisition for an EGM was submitted)."

The sources doubt Ong would accept the first resolution submitted in the requisition, which is to pass a vote of no-confidence against the president.

Meanwhile, action committee chief coordinator Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho denied the figure 921 (the number of delegates who signed the EGM requisition) has any connection with the Hung Meng Hooi, a triad organisation whose members are known to use the secret code 21.
